Roll out the red carpet…it’s almost time for the Oscars! Doesn’t matter whether I’ve seen all the nominees…I love watching everything from the pre-show interviews (miss you so, so much, Joan!) to the very last thank you speech. The fashion, the music, the predictions, the drama, the after-parties…I love it all!
And, of course, it’s always more fun to take in Hollywood’s glitz and glamour with some friends. In fact, I’ve even watched along with my QVC besties from backstage at the studio in between on-air appearances, on occasion. We may not have The Academy at QVC, but we DO have David Venable’s Golden Spatula Awards Ceremony to look forward to every year. I happen to have a few of these coveted awards in a place of honor in my own home. If you want to see what I’m nominated for this year, be sure to watch David’s Favorite Moments on “In the Kitchen with David” from 2015 and tune in on this Sunday, 2/28, at noon ET to see who wins!
But back to that other awards ceremony…My very favorite way to enjoy the Academy Awards: Oscar Party!
If you’re planning to host your own viewing party this year, here are a few of my Oscar Party ideas for red carpet-worthy recipes to help you entertain in style. I chose a red and black color scheme in Old World and Floral Lace to add pops of bold and dramatic color. But whatever your signature temp-tations color or pattern is, you’re sure to steal the show when you serve up these delicious treats!
- Red Carpet Champagne Cocktail — Nothing like a cocktail (or mocktail) to start a party off right…and this one will have you feeling ready for your close-up. For a pop of Oscars glamour, add a sparkling edible gold glitter rim to each mug.
- California Shrimp Cocktail — This citrus-inspired twist on the classic Shrimp Cocktail recipe combines the fresh flavors of California, including avocado, mango and oranges. Delicious, sophisticated…and beautifully presented in my entertaining-essential Lidded Chill & Serve Set in your choice of Old World or Floral Lace.
- Star-Struck Cheese Tray — Give crowd-pleasing cheese and crackers an Oscars makeover! When prepped and served on my Old World Set of 2 Nested Trays, these bite-sized nibbles can be easily dressed up or down with your choice of favorite cheeses and garnishes. No Hollywood stylists required. 😉
- Cupcake-tinis – By the time the celebs hit the after-parties, I’m usually loooong asleep. But here’s a sweet and sophisticated nightcap to help you toast the big winners in style. Now, do you take your cupcakes shaken, stirred or swirled? 😉
Will you be tuning in Sunday night? Any favorite actors or actresses you’ll be rooting for? Most importantly, what will YOU be serving for your Oscar V.I.P.s (Very Important Partiers)? Can’t wait to dish all about it with you next week!
